Author Chuck Harter
Chuck Harter was born in Tampa, Florida. His parents had served in the Air Force and Chuck spent his early years in England. He attended a British school and acquired a great formative education. When the family returned to America, they settled in the Washington D. C. area with homes in both Maryland and Virginia.
He arrived in California in 1978 and lived in Hollywood. Chuck was the house engineer and stage manager at the famous Troubador Club and worked with many famous music acts of the time. A vocalist and guitarist, Chuck played in several bands and gigged extensively in Southern California. Chuck became involved with the television industry in the early 90’s. He wrote the critically acclaimed 3 part mini- series “I’Elvis” for Hard Copy/Paramount. After that Chuck appeared on many programs as a commentator and Pop Culture Historian. These included “North Mission Road,” “Cops: America’s Most Wanted,” “Places of Infamy,” A&E Biography,” and “Mysteries and Scandals” and more. A lifelong Monkees fan, Chuck wrote and was heavily involved in the Disney Channel/Rhino Records’ documentary: “Hey! Hey! We’re the Monkees.” He worked on other documentaries which included “Gossip! Tabloid Tales” and “Beach Boys: Endless Harmony.”
Chuck was educated at Staunton Military Academy and Lynchburg College.
As a musician, Chuck has produced several cds of his musical performances.
He was appearing as a Singer/Guitarist/Entertainer regularly in Los Angeles until the Covid epidemic caused closure of the venues.
As an author, Chuck has been published five times. His books include:
